Until last year, I had never been to Utah or Salt Lake City. But in the last year I’ve been there three times for work and I’ve loved every visit. I really enjoy traveling, but whenever I travel west it seems like I’m stepping into a different world, and Salt Lake is no exception.
One of my favorite parts of traveling is trying local restaurants and SLC has such good food! The Copper Onion, which was sadly closed the week I was in town, has the best beef stroganoff I’ve ever had. Hands down. The meatloaf there is also amazing. But this is post is about a local pizzaria with a wood fire oven restaurant called Settebello. Now, I’m not a a big pizza fan. In fact, I won’t eat fast food pizza like Dominos, Pizza Hut or Papa Johns. And don’t shun me follow St. Louisians, but Imo’s pizza is gross. It’s like eating chewy cardboard. Anyway, needless to say, the only pizza I eat is homemade or insanely good pie from a pizzaria.
At Settebell, I’ve had the margherita pizza two years in a row, and it is the BEST pizza I’ve ever had. The basil is fresh and well balanced with the tomatoes and cheese so that its not over-powering, but you taste hints of the basil in each bite. It’s seriously delicious.
And the grand finale….Gelato!
I’m a sucker for sweets and chocolate, so I gave into my sweet tooth and got the chocolate gelato. It was the right about of airiness and chocolate without being sickeningly sweet. And I don’t regret a single bite 🙂
If you ever get the chance to visit the city by the great Salt Lake, I highly recommend it. Visit some delicious local food fare and try something new.
Until next time, friends!
